Dart Flights
Dart flights are the fins or so called “wings” that can be found at the back of darts. Their main purpose is to help in stabilizing the dart during flight. They can be made out of various materials such as polyester plastic which is used in “hard flights”. The polyester plastic holds its shape well and the layers that comprise it are sealed permanently together with the use of heat during the manufacturing process.
Because plastic is hard, it doesn’t tear as easily as the material used for soft flights. However, the downside here is the fact that when they do tear, you won’t be able to reseal them and thus they are forever ruined.

Soft flights on the other hand are made of flexible plastic sheets which are also printed in a variety of colors and designs. Adhesive holds the various layers together and as such, whenever a flight is torn during a game, they can be easily resealed together by pressing them together and sealing that with adhesive.
There are also those Nylon flights that are made up of rip stop nylon fabric and are also considered to be one of the most durable kinds of flight. This is because they are extremely hard to tear. The stiffness of this kind of flight can vary according to the difference in the weight and fabric that the manufacturer decides on using.
Lastly, we have RIBTEX or DIMPLEX dart flights that fall under the hard flight category but with additional texture this time. They have ribbed or bumpy surfaces which also tend to become stiff during flight. Many dart players favor this as it also amounts a bit of drag during flight thus making the dart a lot more stable.
