Soft Tip Darts
When it comes to construction and make both steel and soft tip darts are always made of the exact same materials. This is with the exception of wooden darts, of course. The only significant difference that they have would be their weight and their price tag. When it comes to weight requirements for soft tip darts, this often varies and as such checking in with the various local leagues is the way to go.
However, most of the time 16 gram darts are the most commonly used and are considered to be “safe bets” wherever you might be having the game in. You can also get for yourself a slightly heavier soft tip dart but there are some tournaments and leagues that actually ban them because of the way it is constructed as well as the restraints of the various machines that they are using.

As per recommendation of the pros, when playing with soft tip darts just opt for the 14 or 16 gram variety in order to keep on the safe side of things. A soft tip dart is also a much safer version of the traditional dart game.
They have these dull plastic tips which are of course, less likely to accidentally puncture someone with in case there are stray darts and someone just happened to be passing by. They are also often used for electronic dartboards. Basically, you cannot use them on your traditional cork or wood dartboards because, simply put, they wouldn’t poke through and stick.
